Prize money for Brazil 2014 would be a total of N95 billion FIFA, the world football governing body, has announced new prize money for the 2014 World Cup and hosts of other age-group events. It said in a statement, following its executive committee meeting on Thursday, that the new prize money would be $576 million (about N95 billion) for next year’s tournament. This was an increase of 37 per cent in comparison with the $420 million (about N69 billion) on offer for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The winner in Brazil would receive $35 million (N5.41 billion), followed by $25 million (N3.96 billion) for the runners-up. Twenty-two million dollars (N3.48 billion) and $20 million (N3.16 billion) would be awarded to the third- and fourth-placed teams respectively and $14 million (N2.216 billion) for the quarter-finalists. The governing body also announced that South Korea would host the U-20 World Cup in 2017, with South Africa staging the U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2016. India will have an opportunity to showcase its credentials as a major event destination by hosting the U-17 World Cup in 2017, while Jordan would hold the U-17 Women’s World Cup in 2016. The governing body added that Mexico City and Kuala Lumpur would stage the FIFA Congress in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Meanwhile, Nigeria has been grouped in Group F with Argentina, Iran and Bosnia Herzegovina in the 2014 World Cup draw held on Friday in Brazil. According to the draw, Nigeria would play its first match against Iran in the group match.

The burial details of the late South African President, Nelson Mandela has been announced. Jacob Zuma, the current President of South Africa has declared 10 days of national mourning. Sunday, 8th December 2013is the National Day of prayer and reflection for the late icon. He has asked people of different beliefs to gather in their various places of worship to pray for the departed hero, his family and the nation. Nelson Mandela’s Memorial Service On Tuesday, the 10th of December, Nelson Mandela’s memorial service will be held at the FNB Stadium, near Soweto. Lying In State From 11th to 13th December, his remains would lie in state at the Union Buildings in Pretoria, where he was inaugurated as the first President of the democratic South Africa in 1994. Nelson Mandela’s burial Madiba will be laid to rest in his home town of Qunu in the Eastern Cape on Sunday, the 15th of December. The former President who is fondly called “Tata” – The father of Nations died at his home in Johannesburg, South Africa at exactly 11:50pm on Thursday 5th December 2013 at the age of 95. Nelson Mandela is survived by his former wife Winnie Madikizela Mandela, his spouse Graca Machel, his three daughters – Makaziwe, Zenani, Zindzi and many grandchildren and great grand children. British man duped into spending $750 on a photo of an Xbox One     As you can see, Peter Clatworthy has had better days. The 19-year-old father from Bilborough, England, is understandably ticked off after spending a whopping $750 on a photo — yes, a photo — on an Xbox One gaming console. And it's not even a high-res image; just a simple print-out. Clatworthy was attempting to purchase an XBox One Day One edition console for his four-year-old son from what he thought was a legitimate seller on eBay. The Xbox One was released in the UK on Nov. 22, so many eager gamers had to resort to eBay in order to procure a Day One console. And with the new console in extremely high demand, eBay quickly became flooded with scammers attempting to sell empty boxes to hapless gamers.
